Saturday 31st December : 5K run
New years Eve, 2011, saw the largest turnout of 23 runners for race four of the
current winter series which was the second 5K run of the series. The entrants
were a wide range in ages and ability.
Even though the overall times were slightly slower than the previous race, the first three positions were closely contested with less than 45 seconds covering first to third. Non member Luke Field won in a time of 20.02, with Pat Hagan in second place again in 20.23 with Andy Coldwell coming in third position again, in 20.42. First lady home was Bridget Booth in 6th place overall in a time of 23.01.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and thanks to Dave Finch, Lee Bradbury and Lee Tinkler who assisted with time keeping and marshalling.
To celebrate the end of year and what looks like possibly becoming a tradition at the lake, there was a brief, and it was brief!! An Icebreaker dip in the lake by some of the members, Mark Benton, Pat Hagan, Phil Shakey Shakeshaft, George Williams, Kirsty Groocock, and modelling 2012’s new? Team Manvers tri suit, was non other than Paul Bennington, in a PINK two piece swim suit. I don’t think there will be many Tri members going for these alternative club colours this coming year!!!. Whilst there was a lack of ice to break, the water was still damn cold and so the dippers warmed up with a tot of Jack Daniels. Great way to end the year.
