Winter Series Race 7 Race Report and Results

Team Manvers Winter Series : Race 7 - 5K run 11th  February 2012

Yesterday saw the 7thrace in the series at Team Manvers in very cold, (-5 deg) frosty but bright conditions. The course was
treacherous in places with ice covering large parts of the track so the 14 entrants were going to find the going slippery.

There were the usual participants but the current series leader,  Pat Hagan was a late withdrawl due to a tight calf, Mick Gouldin returned from
injury and we had another new comer to the series, Geoffrey Kyei, taking part in  his first race. Race times were expected to be slow due to the
conditions.

First across the line was Richard Price, equalling the current  series race record previously set by him, in 19.27, an outstanding time
considering the very icy conditions. Equally impressive was Luke Field in second  place also under 20 mins in 19.45, Mick Gouldin’s knee survived to earn him
third spot in 20.06. There was a sprint finish between Les Orange and Lee Draper  which  Lee just edged to take  12th  position and over a minute
quicker than previous, well done Lee. Top lady home was Bridgette Booth in 24.24  (including a fall). Newcomer Geoffrey finished 10th place overall in  24.29.

Well done to all who took part, in what was very treacherous  conditions.

Our thanks to Paul, Phil and Ala, for co ordinating the race and  timekeeping.
